How Businesses Are Displayed

Best-Tacos.com is a curated taco discovery site. We use business data, location data, category tags, Google review information, and our own site configuration to decide which businesses can appear on the map, city views, profile pages, and ranked lists.

Businesses We Exclude

We generally filter out fast food franchises and other listings that do not fit the independent, local, or taco-focused discovery experience we are building. We may also exclude businesses that are closed, duplicated, outside the relevant market, missing usable location information, or otherwise not appropriate for the site.

Google Reviews And Visibility

Google review ratings and review counts are used as signals, not guarantees. A business with a lower rating than the configured minimum may be hidden from the public site. A business above the configured minimum is still subject to category, location, status, and editorial filters.

How Top Ranked Works

The Top Ranked tab only considers businesses that are already eligible to be shown under the current filters. That means the minimum Google Review Rank gate, fast food franchise exclusions, visibility settings, and the current map/search context are applied first.

From that eligible group, Top Ranked uses a Bayesian review score. This balances a business's Google rating against its review count and the site's configured global average, so a business with very few reviews does not automatically outrank a consistently strong business with more review history.

Top Ranked then shows the strongest eligible businesses from the current view, rather than changing the map to a different city or state.

Paid And Featured Listings

Sponsored, subscribed, partner, and featured statuses can affect how a business profile is presented and which profile elements are visible. Those statuses do not override the basic site eligibility rules unless we intentionally configure the site to do so.
